Once again, we would like to thank you for your patience. Our Learning Centre is still being refurbished. Some classes will be organised at our old premises of 61 Mosley Street, where we have a temporary reception.
The telephone number will remain the same. However, you can also +44 (0) 161 833 0377 if you have trouble getting through. Currently, the Learning Centre does not have a contact number.
Over the coming few weeks, we will hopefully have one seemless network at Wai Yin. By that, we mean that you can call any of our centre’s numbers (we will publish the Learning Centre’s number once it is available) and you can be transferred to any member of staff, regardless of where they are based. So you can call our Older People’s Centre and you can be transferred to someone at our Main Headquarters. However, we request that you only call our main numbers – +44 (0) 161 237 5908 and +44 (0) 161 833 0377, so that our staff aren’t overwhelmed with phone calls at our external centres.
We hope that this new adventure will be an exciting one, especially since Wai Yin now owns it’s main headquarters. We purchased 66-68 Swan Street in October 2009 and we have spent a long time refurnishing the building to make it home for as many of our services as we can. However, we felt that the building was too small for the Education, Training and Employment Unit to be housed in as well, and they have grown rapidly over the last few years, that they deserved their own place. We will hopefully be open for classes on Monday 2nd August 2010, but we will update you here if we are not ready.

]]>Sylvia said “I am so proud to have been awarded the “Community Woman of the Year” award. This is thanks to the hard work of my team at Wai Yin – the management committee, the staff, the volunteers and the service users. Without those people, this would not have been possible. I would especially like to thank my fellow Senior Managers – Lisa Mok and Jenny Tsang. They are so proud of my achievements and Wai Yin’s achievements, and are able to bear witness to the generosity and praise that Wai Yin is awarded. It means so much to me that Wai Yin is recognised in this way.”
Sylvia was nominated for this award by Samantha Tran, who used to work for Wai Yin in our Youth Project before she left to work for Manchester City Council. Samantha still comes back regularly to visit Wai Yin, and still has a wonderful friendship with Wai Yin. Sylvia said it was a great honour to recieve the award and she was very touched that Samantha was the person who nominated her. Sylvia has done a lot of work for Wai Yin and the Chinese community, and we all think that this is an excellent accolade for her. Congratulations to Sylvia! We all hope her hard work continues for many years to come.
